My husband and I just had a HORRIBLE experience with PODS and I would not recommend anyone use them. We moved across the country and were given a quote, which is how we decided to go with this company in the first place. Once we gave them the location where we would want the POD delivered they said that it would have to be transferred between franchises and that would lead to additional costs. This turned out to be OVER $1,000 in additional fees that we were not expecting. They said it was because we were moving outside of their delivery zone, but we had explicitly told them the area we were moving to when we originally got our quote. They said they would review the calls but we would have to pay upfront and then there was only a small chance we would get our money back. We decided to get a U-Haul, drive to the POD location and just get all our stuff out.
I feel like we were totally scammed. Beware the fact that each POD location is a franchise, and if you say that there was a mistake they'll just blame it on the other location and say there is nothing they can do.
I used pods twice, once in Detroit and again in San Diego. Both times they verified an amount to deduct from my card as any company does with an online payment, yet both times they presented a substantially higher amount to my bank, first time 416 bucks, this time 395 bucks, absolutely above the amount agreed on. Both times I was read a formatted apology and the money was refunded to my account-within 24 hours. Of course, I cannot touch the money they took until the bank releases it back to my account. If I wrote PODS a paper check and someone scribbled out the numbers and penciled in higher numbers, cashed the check, they would be arrested and convicted of a serious crime. But Pods can take almost 800 bucks during a cross country move, show it as income or assets or draw interest or whatever for a couple of days, and they get nothing. Corporate monsters that eat regular people, stompmus like bugs to feed their gluttonous entitled lifestyles.
I do not recommend PODS at all. They placed 2 pods in front of my home and destroyed 2 mature trees, left the branches on my front lawn, broke the trees and will not return phone calls.
Fantastic Service as usual !!! I would highly recommend PODS service. You will have plenty of time to move stuff !!
I have used PODS for two moves - Texas to California and California to Michigan. Both times they were professional, one time and took care of my personal belongings. I appreciate a national and local business who provides such great customer service.
